NHP appoints Jamie Roberts to Board of Trustees

Posted 10th July 2023

Jamie joins the Board of Trustees for NHP which supports young people leaving the care system.

Brings over two decades of experience in business development strategy, organisational change, and process improvement.

Jamie is the Director of Managed Accounts at Reconomy [Group] and the appointment strengthens the existing relationship between NHP and Reconomy.

National House Project (NHP) is delighted to announce the appointment of Jamie Roberts as a Trustee, joining the six-member strong Board of Trustees and a wider team of supporting staff.

NHP is a progressive and innovative charity, set up in 2018 to help address the unjust and poor outcomes many young people face after leaving the care system without the necessary support and guidance. Working with local councils and businesses, NHP runs multiple projects for young care leavers across the UK to help develop a sense of community, fulfilment, and interdependence.

Jamie will bring his breadth of experience in sales and account management to this important role, alongside his specialisation in business development strategy, organisational change and process optimisation. He is also passionate about people development and social impact and he joined the NHP Board of Trustees to make a difference and ensure that young people are supported and encouraged to achieve their ambitions.

Jamie is currently Director of Managed Accounts at Reconomy [Group], an organisation that has established strong and long-standing ties with NHP through the Reconomy Social Value Programme (RSVP). This initiative has two main objectives of ‘Bridging Gaps’ to support care leavers, and ‘Breaking Barriers’ to help under-represented and disadvantaged groups into employment.

As part of this programme, Reconomy has invested significantly in setting up ‘Local House Projects’ designed to support 8-10 care leavers each year via the refurbishment of properties which will become theirs to live in for as long as they want.

Reconomy provides senior management ‘Business Mentors’ to the National and Local House Project Steering Groups, as well as helping the project participants with employability support, coaching and job opportunities through its extensive supplier and customer base. In total, the Group has delivered £1.7 million of pure social value across the communities in which it operates.

Jamie Roberts, Trustee at NHP said:

“NHP provides a radical housing solution to the problems that many young people face after leaving the care system. It is vital that we support these people with the community support they need to develop the practical and emotional skills required to live interdependent, happy lives.”

Mark Leith, Chair Trustees at NHP, commented:

“We are delighted to have Jamie on-board as a Trustee. His outstanding commercial experience and passion for people will contribute significantly to our efforts in supporting young care leavers in the community. The appointment also deepens our ties with Reconomy [Group]: we are delighted to have such a large, driven and progressive business backing our ambitious plans.”
