National Care Leavers Week 2024 – NHP and LHPs celebrate NCLW!

28 October 2024 – 3 November 2024

NHP celebrated National Care Leavers Week (NCLW) 2024 with an engaging lineup of awareness raising events and activities. Adopting the theme CARE - Celebrate, Amplify, Raise, Encourage - NHP encouraged the community to recognise care leavers, amplify their voices, raise awareness of their unique challenges, and advocate for policy changes to support them.

Throughout the week, NHP and LHPs organised activities across the UK including community litter picks in Sandwell and Stoke which involved young people, staff, and partners, thanks to the support of Reconomy and Valpak. These efforts highlighted care leavers’ commitment to social impact while reinforcing the power of ‘community’.

A key feature of NCLW was direct engagement with young people in Local House Projects, who shared their views and experiences in a series of videos, providing insight into the meaning of National Care Leavers Week. Additionally, CLNM Trustees Advisory Board attended the NHP Board of Trustees meeting where their voices are central to shaping decisions that impact their lives and the lives of others.

Concluding the week was a full booking for the CLNM Annual Conference, taking place on Thursday 14th November 2024, where young people, staff and partners come together to share progress, build community and inspire new directions for the future.

National Care Leavers Week 2024 has reinforced NHP’s mission to inspire action and promote ongoing support for care leavers: “All Of Us, We Are One.”
