The Big Give Christmas Challenge: help care leavers achieve their hopes and dreams!
Posted 30th November 2021
This year The National House Project will take part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge Campaign to help care leavers achieve their hopes and dreams.
From Tuesday 30th November to Tuesday 7th December the Charity will seek donations which will be matched funded by the Big Give. All donations will go towards funding our ’Aspirational Awards’ programme where the Charity will support care leavers towards achieving a lifelong wish or dream that will help them succeed in life. This might mean a helping hand towards an overseas volunteering trip, specialist sports equipment or the opportunity to train for their dream job.
Mark Warr, CEO of The National House Project said “We are excited about joining in the Big Give this Christmas, we hope that people can get behind our cause and will help support young people leaving the care system who can’t rely on the bank of mum and dad. Our Aspirational Awards Programme supports our care leavers to achieve even more!”
Anyone wanting to give as part of the campaign can donate at The National House Project (thebiggive.org.uk). To find out more about the Big Give go to The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021 Campaign Video (#ChristmasChallenge21) - YouTube

Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards
In May, we were proud to attend the Frontline Awards to celebrate Coventry City Council’s Pathways service winning the Multi-Agency Partnership of the Year award. Funded by the Rayne Foundation, the Pathways programme brings together a number of organisations, including NHP, Coram Voice and The Rees Foundation, working closely alongside the Throughcare Service, Coventry House Project and Lifelong Links. Together, the partnership supports young people leaving care to develop skills, build positive relationships, and focus on their emotional health and wellbeing. Three cohorts of young people from Coventry have now go through the Pathways Programme. Seeing the partnership recognised nationally was a fantastic moment and a powerful reflection of the impact collaborative working can have in supporting care-experienced young people.

In May, the Aspirational Awards panel awarded just over £15,000 to 19 young people across our LHPs. It was inspiring to see such a wide range of ideas, goals and determination reflected in the applications, and a privilege to support more young people as they take their next steps forward. Funding in Round 9 supported training + graduate employment scheme, equipment for a baking business and support for other businesses, sports sessions, music lessons, lifeguard course, and day trips. We have also recently completed a 3 year review of our Aspirational Awards and the impact they’ve had. Over the past 3 years, we’ve awarded over £147,000 to 138 young people (not including figures from our most recent round in May). If you would like to find out more about how to support the Aspirational Awards please get in touch.
